“Where Traditions Meet” – The Newsletter of the College of Communication and Fine Arts at LMU

In the beginning of the 2012-13 academic year, we renamed the CFA newsletter to “Where Traditions Meet,” from “Come Fully Alive.” The new title acknowledges the College of Communication and Fine Arts as the nexus location where the critical intellectual and artistic traditions of three religious communities at Loyola Marymount University: The Jesuits, The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange find its most bracing presence at Loyola Marymount University. While still celebrating the liveliness of activities in the college and that spirit of energetic engagement, the new title also confirms for the reader that CFA is a college dedicated to the critical expression of the human experience through rhetoric, communication, debate and creative artistic activity; establishes the importance of our work as grounded in intellectual and critical traditions; engages the performative and expressive aesthetics of theatre, art, music and dance that provide pleasure and opportunities to examine culture , self and society to live an informed life while advocating social justice. In this newsletter you will read of our varying commitments, efforts and accomplishments towards these ends.
